One of the best things about quitting my studio job is vacation. I swear that I wouldn't work at another place other than my own without negotiating a Euro-like vacation package. No rest makes Desi a pest.

This year I asked Josh where he wanted to go and he said Colorado. He didn't really know what he wanted to do there, but he knew he wanted to see Rocky Mountain National Park. We did that and much more.

I think I will do this in a couple of parts because we were gone for two weeks and I don't want you to have to scroll through too many photos.

First of all we couldn't have ordered better weather. We felt so lucky. We drove from San Diego to St. George, Utah and spent the night. It was 102 degrees in Moab that day and we were scared. We were weather wimps before we moved to San Diego, but our location has exasperated our condition. Josh was in full blown panic mode.

Josh: Honey I don't think we will be able to handle it. We can just get a hotel and wait out the weather until we continue on to Aspen.

Me: It will be fine. It's only supposed to be 90 tomorrow.

It was 68 - 74 degrees the whole time we were in the desert. We hiked all over Canyonlands and continued to Arches. I have to say that Canyonlands was one of my favorite places we went. The views were out of this world and watching all the storms roll in and out was amazing. It was just us and the Germans and the French.

Our campsite was perfect mix of amenities and roughing it. It had a shade cover over the table and a functioning electric light. Only twenty sites in the place and no loud neighbors. We were rained on both nights that we camped, but it was more adventure than tragedy.

Next stop Colorado.
