A couple of weeks ago I had a cold and I rediscovered the beauty of the hot toddy. It's the upside of sickness, but you don't have to be completely ill to enjoy it.
TRIPLE GINGER HOT TODDY
1 cup hot water
1 tablespoons honey
2-3 tablespoons bourbon
juice of half a lemon
TO MAKE
Pour hot water over tea bag and honey. Allow to steep for at least 5 min. Remove tea bag. Add bourbon. Squeeze in lemon juice. Twist a strip of lemon peel over drink, then add to glass. Serve

I wish you'd posted this last week when I was dying! I don't know that I've ever had a hot toddy.
ReplyDeleteAwe, I wish I had too, but you don't have to be sick to like it. This recipe is pretty good too. http://www.bonappetit.com/recipes/2011/12/honey-bourbon-toddy
Deleteyum. I have left over bourbon from turkey day. ... ginger bourbon fizz...would be so good hot!
ReplyDeleteMy husband (the family practice doc) swears by hot toddies for colds. Good old fashioned medicine! :)
ReplyDeletei used to fake coughs so that my mom would give me some out of the 'special' honey bear that had toddy on demand. so much tastier than cough syrup ;)
